O's Ticket Giveaway at Core Values Speaker Series

To the University Community:

You know how important UMB's core values are to me. The seven essential words (accountability, civility, collaboration, diversity, excellence, knowledge, and leadership) guide our scholarship and our service every day.

I am delighted that former University System of Maryland Chancellor William E. "Brit" Kirwan, PhD, is visiting us next week on April 1 to continue our Core Values Speaker Series. Dr. Kirwan will speak on knowledge, a subject he mastered in his sterling 50-plus-year career.

Guided by his long-held core belief that higher education plays a critical role in creating a more just and inclusive society, Dr. Kirwan has impacted the higher education landscape considerably. Common threads running through his career include his unwavering commitment to knowledge, excellence, and to increasing under-represented minorities' access to higher education.

Mix in his good humor, folksy recollections, and unique perspectives and the hour with Dr. Kirwan promises to be most memorable and informative. Please try to join us on Friday, April 1, from noon to 1 p.m. in Westminster Hall. A light lunch will be provided and five lucky attendees will win two tickets to Orioles' Opening Day on April 4.

Register today for this important event. You will not be disappointed.

Sincerely,

Jay A. Perman, MD
President
