Interprofessional Global Health Faculty Grant Recipients

It’s with great pleasure that I announce the recipients of UMB’s 2016 (CGEI) Interprofessional Global Health Faculty Grants.
In this third year of the program, nine faculty members will lead six interprofessional global health projects in six countries. The projects involve 23 UMB students.

This has been an extraordinarily productive year for global education at UMB. CGEI faculty and staff have advanced critical initiatives for global and interprofessional program growth through a variety of new activities, bringing UMB to the forefront of global health education.
Last March, CGEI—co-directed by Jody Olsen, PhD, MSW, and Virginia Rowthorn, JD—sponsored a standing-room-only workshop on global/local education at a conference hosted by the Consortium of Universities for Global Health. The workshop will be followed up with a national roundtable on the topic to be held at UMB on Feb. 12.
The roundtable will bring together leaders in community engagement and global health to discuss how health projects at the international and local community levels intersect, and the importance of fostering bi-directional learning in future leaders. Visit for more information about the roundtable.
