    UMB’s Confidential Hotline

Did you know UMB has a confidential hotline? It offers a way to report something that concerns you regarding your job at UMB with or without listing your name on the report. It could be something illegal, unethical, or, in your opinion, something that should not be happening.

How is your confidentiality protected? You can find the link to the hotline at the bottom of the UMB home page and click on it. The link will take you to a page with links to a form that you can fill out with whatever information you have in the sections that seem most appropriate. When you hit send, that electronic message goes off campus to EthicsPoint, a business independent from UMB that retrieves it and reports it to the Office of Accountability and Compliance on campus. Or you can call 866-594-5220 to give your report orally.

If you want to remain completely anonymous, you will have no way of getting any update on the situation. However, the hotline gives you the option to set up an access code to check in to see if there are further questions for you or provide additional information if needed. University personnel will not have your email address or any identifying information about you unless you choose to provide it.

The areas listed for reporting concerns include academic affairs; accounting and finance; human resources; information technology; medical/dental patient care; research; risk management; violation of institutional policy; safety; and others. There also are other offices and programs available to help you with your concerns, such as the Office of Accountability and Compliance; the Employee Assistance Program; the Office of Environmental Health and Safety; Human Resource Services; the Title IX Coordinator; the Research Integrity Officer; and the Office of the Ombuds, to name a few.
