Survey Support provides guidance on survey design, administration, and response analysis for UMB schools, departments, and administrative units. Support is focused on surveys that inform institutional decision-making, planning, assessment, and reporting.

UMB uses the Qualtrics platform for official University surveys. Accounts can be created through the UMB portal or coordinated through a division administrator.

IEIE has provided support for a wide range of institutional surveys, including:

  • Student, faculty, and staff experience surveys (including COVID-19 experience surveys)
  • Climate and engagement surveys

Specialized Survey Efforts

Some surveys are conducted on recurring cycles or for system-wide reporting requirements.

For example, a triennial undergraduate alumni survey is conducted to support system-level accountability requirements originally developed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

Access and Tools

UMB surveys are typically administered through Qualtrics, the university’s standard survey platform. Access is available through the UMB Portal or via Division Administrator.
