Global Learning for Health Equity Grantees Convene in Baltimore

The Global Learning for Health Equity Network (GL4HEN), led by Yolanda Ogbolu, the Bill and Joanne Conway Dean of the University of Maryland School of Nursing, and Virginia Rowthorn, Assistant Vice President for Global Engagement and Executive Director of CGE, is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded effort to build a framework that will support the adaptation of health equity interventions from overseas to U.S. settings with a strong focus on community engagement and bidirectional learning.

In late September, the seven GL4HEN grantees convened in Baltimore to work and learn together. The toured Baltimore with community site visits and learned about the Global Learning Framework.

The GL4HEN grants are designed to help community-based organizations and health equity advocates learn about creative approaches and initiatives from countries around the world that can inform their efforts to advance health equity in the U.S. Projects include:

  • Global Learning for Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health
  • 4 Pillars Model: Centering Women's Access through Agency

  • Global Exploration of Age Friendly & Aging Supportive Communities

  • Global Learning in Addressing Trauma-Cambodia/US Immigrant Communities
