President's Global Impact Fund Recipients Adjust to COVID-19

In its inaugural year, the President's Global Impact Fund is providing $250,000 in support for 11 projects which aim to develop cross-campus and international collaborations. Due to COVID-19, many of the projects are making adjustments to their plans across the globe.

Ciheb Awarded Grants for COVID-19 Response in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Center for International Health, Education and Biosecurity (Ciheb) at the UM School of Medicine's Institute of Human Virology was awarded $4 million from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to support COVID-19 response activities in Botswana, Nigeria, Malawi, and Mozambique.

Dr. Robert Gallo, Director of the Maryland School of Medicine's Institute of Human Virology, was recently featured on BBC World News with Matthew Amroliwala during a "Coronavirus Explained" segment, where he discussed the potential an oral polio vaccine could have on COVID-19.
