Emily Heil, PharmD, MS
School of Pharmacy
The overall goal of the project is to develop an experiential education exchange for University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy (UM SOP) students at The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, Zambia while also establishing sustainable international research and learning opportunities for students and preceptors from University of Zambia School of Health Sciences (UNZA), Department of Pharmacy at UMB. The project is rooted in a partnership between two institutions with the foundation of having an exchange component between UMSOP and UNZA for teaching and research. The experience for UNZA students and preceptors at UMB will include substantial interprofessional collaboration and exposure to the practice model of pharmacists in both countries. Providing joint experiences for students and preceptors will provide important training for students on both campuses, and aid in creating a sustainable learning experience through investment in UNZA preceptors and faculty.
