The AI Studio Faculty Fellowship is a 9-month, faculty-led program hosted by the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL) in collaboration with the Leaders in Education: Academy of Presidential Scholars (LEAPS) initiative. Designed for faculty interested in exploring the ethical, pedagogical, and scholarly use of generative AI in higher education, the AI Studio is open to educators from all UMB schools and teaching contexts, including clinical, classroom, hybrid, and online environments.
In its inaugural year, the fellowship will award up to three Faculty Fellowships ($2,500) and three Faculty Learning Partner honoraria ($250). The program supports Fellows in leading small-scale, AI-focused pilot projects that integrate technology into teaching or educational research in meaningful, intentional ways. Fellows engage in monthly cohort meetings, collaborative reflection, and cross-disciplinary peer exchange, and receive mentorship in areas such as IRB preparation, research design, and scholarly dissemination.
By the end of the fellowship, each Faculty Fellow contributes a case study or scholarly product and participates in the LEAPS Symposium to share their work with the broader UMB community.
