There are sometimes questions about what services Environmental Services (EVS) is responsible for versus the customer. Below is information regarding the financial responsibility for the services provided, as well as rates for billable services effective July 1, 2025.

NON-BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Specific lab cleaning and disinfection
  • Restocking paper towels, toilet paper, and soap
  • Specific floor care (stripping/waxing, wet/dry mopping, vacuuming)
  • Requests for office/lab prep for new hires
  • Carpet care - spot treatment only
  • Upholstery - spot treatment only
  • Window/glass cleaning (entryway and interior glass)

BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Entire room/area carpet care.
  • Specialty floor care requests in excess of once annually

CONTRACTOR REQUESTS - MANAGED BY EVS

  • Carpet care - full room/area cleaning & restorative services
  • Upholstery cleaning - full cleaning & restorative services
  • Specialty or obstructed interior window/glass cleaning

As of July 1, 2025, all EVS Moving Requests are now fully billable. During the process, you will be required to provide a SOAPF number, which will be used for billing once the move is completed. The billing rates will follow the current EVS Labor Rates, available on our website. The Moving, Recycling & Special Events team may need up to 2 weeks to complete a Moving request depending on scope of the move and the current schedule of the team. Most moving requests are completed within the week. 

NON-BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Routine and preventative services for the bats, ants, roaches, mice, rats, and gnats/flies

BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Bed bug remediation
  • Services outside of the scope of the unit
  • Food service specific services/remediation
  • Facility specific needs/requests (i.e. drain cleaner for animal facilities, shower drains, etc.)

CONTRACTOR REQUESTS - MANAGED BY EVS

  • Pest infestation remediation that is evaluated with needs outside the capacity of the unit

NON-BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Collection of recyclables from loading docks to include mixed, paper, and cardboard
  • Disposal of individual bulk items (when cleared by excess property process)

BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Lab/office clear out (over 2 labor hours)
  • Clean up efforts due to improper dumping & storage on loading docks (fine from the fire marshal plus labor)
  • Service requests outside of the capacity of the unit

NON-BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Outdoor trash collection from University receptacles
  • Outdoor removal of litter and debris from campus sidewalks, building entrances/exits and loading docks
  • Exterior Flag replacement (Plaza, Police Station, Davidge Hall)
  • Loading Dock Routine Cleaning

BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Customer requests for additional outdoor University trash/recycle receptacles
  • Customer negligence on loading docks (animal bedding/illegal dumping)

CONTRACTOR REQUESTS - MANAGED BY EVS

  • Window washing

NON-BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Seasonal mowing, plantings, weeding, and mulching in designated campus areas

BILLABLE REQUEST

  • Customer requests for fencing, gates, patios, hardscaping, sod install
  • Modifications and additions to the current landscaping plan

 

Notes:

  • *Outside of EVS standards refers to requests that are beyond the scope of the normal and routine services of the EVS department.
  • Any billable work that requires overtime will be billed as such (e.g. urgent requests, work that must be performed off hours).
  • Any items not listed are on a case-by-case basis and will be determined by the responsible EVS area.
  • Certain services are managed at the campus level such as exterior window washing; contact the Service Center for questions.
