Your safety is our top priority. That's why we developed Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs) and Safety Plans for every building, outdoor space, and large indoor space on campus.
What's an OEP?
An OEP provides building-specific details and directions related to:
- Evacuation procedures
- Evacuation instructions for persons requiring assistance
- Seeking shelter
- Emergency exits
- Evacuation Assembly Areas
- Locations of Automated External Defibrillators and Stop the Bleed kits
Why does it matter?
OEPs and Safety Plans include critical, life-saving information tailored to each building, outdoor space, and large indoor space. By taking a few minutes to review your OEP before a disaster strikes, you can help build a more prepared, resilient UMB.
Do these apply to events on campus?
Absolutely! Event safety plans are crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. They help identify potential hazards, implement safety protocols, and provide guidance in emergencies, minimizing risks during the event.
Before reserving a space on campus, review the appropriate OEP or Safety Plan (below). Not only are they helpful, but in some situations, reviewing a safety plan is required! Learn more about event planning safety considerations.
How are OEPs created?
Building Coordinators work with the UMB Office of Emergency Management to maintain each OEP. Click here for the list of Building Coordinators.
