Lishayne King joined UMB in 2024 and works as a generalist, assisting with all matters affecting the University, including contracts and agreements for sponsored research and research collaboration, student and academic affairs, and employment issues.

Prior to joining UMB, King served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Rodney Thompson of the Superior Court of New Jersey, whose docket consisted primarily of family law matters. Following her clerkship, she gained valuable experience as an appellate attorney in the Office of General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, followed by in-house experience with a health and retirement fund in Washington, DC, where she provided advice and counsel regarding ERISA, employee benefits, health plan administration, HIPAA, and contract review.

King received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University, her master’s degree in social work from Columbia University, and her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. During law school, she also served as Executive Editor of the Syracuse Journal of Science and Technology Law.
