What is virtual camp?

Virtual Summer U Camp is an opportunity for 7-10 year olds to attend camp online with other children from around the Baltimore community. Because of quarantine restrictions imposed, Summer U has developed an online camp on a virtual platform to help our campers experience the camp digitally, connecting them to each other and keeping their minds stimulated over the summer. There will be arts and crafts, S.T.E.M. Projects and other fun activities.

What are the camp days and times?

Camp will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from July 7th to August 6th, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

What materials does URecFit provide for virtual camp?

URecFit will provide all necessary materials and supplies for every activity throughout the camp via our "Camp-N-A-Box" model. All you need to do is pick up the "Camp-N-A-Box" package from the SMC Campus Center or the UMB Community Engagement Center. Pick up dates and times TBA.

What do families need to provide for virtual camp?

Camp families only need to provide a computer/tablet, internet, and access to Zoom, the online platform where the online sessions will take place. If you need assistance in providing your child with any of the above, please email Mark Dixon at mdixon@umaryland.edu

How involved do parents need to be during virtual camp?

We know parents and guardians are busy throughout the day, so our camp activities are designed to require minimal involvement from them throughout the course of the day.  Depending on the activity, parents and guardians will need to ensure a safe work area for their child to participate at all times, and may need to assist their child with any part of the activity they are having trouble with.

Am I required to register my child for all 5 weeks of camp?

The Summer U Virtual Camp registration process allows you to sign your child up for any or all of the 5 weeks offered.
