Brenda Hester
Accountant
Setup Team
Brenda is SPAC’s Accountant for our Setup Team. She has been with the University for a total of 25 years. Her first seven years were with Disbursements (previously known as Accounts Payable). The remaining 18 years she has been a valued member working in all areas of SPAC.
Her favorite part of working at UMB is, “Over the years, … how every day presents new challenges and opportunities to learn something new.” Brenda says that she is proud of the growth and experiences that these have afforded her, calling it “a rewarding journey.”
She embraces the Core Values of Respect and Integrity. She says, “I work hard to be courteous, fair and show compassion toward everybody.” That’s something she also values in our team culture, which she says, “I think everyone’s opinion here matters, and people feel genuinely heard by our management team.”
While she doesn’t think anyone would be surprised by anything about her, she did say she wishes she had the powers of DC’s Aquaman. “I’ve never learned how to swim, so having his ability to move effortlessly underwater and communicate with sea life would be amazing.” She does want to travel more. So, having these abilities could come in handy on a cruise, at a beach, or in a pool.
When she’s not at the University, Brenda enjoys listening to gospel and R&B music. Although she doesn’t have a particular favorite at the moment. She also likes “…going to movies, walking in the park, and spending time with family and friends.” If anyone does want to discuss shows, she is most interested in FBI shows and shows like Chicago Med, Fire and PD.
