Fatima is a Financial Analyst for SPAC’s Quality Assurance/FFR Reporting Team. She started at UMB as an Accountant I on November 2021. She is most proud of her growth in her career here. “Whether it is learning new skills, taking on more responsibilities, or receiving recognition like this, it feels great to know my work is making a difference,” she said.
This sentiment is reflected in the UMB Core Value she embraces, “…Integrity. For me, doing the right thing, especially when no one is watching is essential. It sets the foundation for trust,” she said.
Fatima’s favorite aspect of working at the University is its strong culture of inclusivity. She said, “Everyone I have worked with has been so respectful and professional. It creates a really supportive environment where you feel valued and heard.” She also expressed appreciation for the “strong sense of connection” within SPAC, despite the team working remotely “The communication within the team is amazing, and there is a genuine effort to stay engaged and support one another,” she said.
Fatima’s interests might come as a surprise to some. She is currently watching the Netflix hit show You. Considering the core value she embraces (Integrity), those familiar with the show and its complex protagonist might find some irony in her choice. Still, it is hard to argue with her choice: “It is suspenseful, unpredictable, and really keeps you engaged episode after episode.”
Another unexpected favorite? Baking. “I love baking… Baking is my go-to hobby. It is a creative outlet and a great way to share something homemade with others,” Fatima said, “It is something I am really passionate about, and I enjoy trying new recipes and sharing what I make with others.” Interestingly, she does not listen to music while baking, preferring the quiet moments and embracing the calm and focus it brings.
We hope that she can get peace and quiet while pursuing her one of the top items on her bucket list: traveling. She said she would like to, “…experience as many countries and cultures as possible. I love the idea of seeing the world and learning from different perspectives.” Of course, her preferred superpower would be teleportation. “It would make traveling easier, faster and I could be anywhere in the world in a second.”
PS While we are happy for Fatima, we do kindly ask our readers to be respectful and not request baked goods from her.
