Non-degree enrollment gives you the opportunity to do just that without committing to a graduate degree program. With this route, adult learners can choose to take up to two graduate courses and earn course credit.

Intercultural and Cross-Cultural Communication, INCL, 3 credits
The purpose of this course is to study communication within the context of the cultural setting.
Caring for the Bereaved, THAN 606, 3 credits
Participants will learn the prominent theories of grieving and the grief reaction, as well as the empirically based therapeutic interventions available to support and care for the bereaved.
Perspectives on Global Health, MHS 605, 3 credits
The course provides an overview of the field of global health.
Critical Issues in Global Women’s and Children’s Health, CIPP 960, 3 credits
A comprehensive multidisciplinary examination of the complex issues related to women and children’s health across the globe.
Communications and Leadership, MHS 652, 3 credits
Students learn effective management and communication skills through case study analysis, reading, class discussion, and role-playing.
Methods of Innovation, INNO 602, 3 credits
This course provides an overview of the entrepreneurial process while examining entrepreneurship from a range of several scholarly contexts, including the social, health, and behavioral sciences.
Introduction to Integrative Health and Biological and Body Based Interventions, MHS 612, 3 credits
Students will examine the fundamental concepts of integrative health and wellness, including the history, philosophies, and methods of prominent integrative therapies.
Theoretical Foundations of Teaching and Learning in the Health Professions, HPE 610, 3 Credits
This graduate course provides a foundation on learning theories that are essential for understanding how people learn, the selection of instruction and assessment within curricula, and development of curriculum and research inquiries.
Foundations in Statistics for the Social Sciences, HPE 615, 3 credits
The course will cover both theoretical and applied aspects of statistics for use in social sciences and educational research.
Leadership in Higher Education , HPE 710, 3 credits
This course is designed to create a community of scholar-practitioners working together to explore a variety of constructs, principles, and models of leadership and to apply that learning to current and future leadership experiences and opportunities.
Instructional Strategies & Assessment, HPE 625, 3 credits
This course provides an overview of instructional strategy and assessment at both theoretical and practical levels.
Educational Program Evaluation, HPE 840, 3 credits
This course provides advanced concepts regarding the assessment, design, and implementation of evaluations of educational programs.
Who Can Apply?
Anyone with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent education and training from a foreign college or university is welcome to apply.

- Pay the $75.00 application fee to formally submit your application
After you’ve paid your application fee, you will gain access to the supplemental item section of your application.

- Maryland Residents: Complete the Application for In-State Classification if you are claiming in-state (Maryland) residency for tuition purposes
- International Applicants: Must meet the language proficiency requirements of the Graduate School via the TOEFL or the IELTS
Note: Non-degree students are billed at the same rate assessed campus-based, master’s degree-level students. These tuition and fee rates apply whether the student is taking an online course or a course based at the UMB campus.

- In state: $2,154
- Out of state: $2,904
Students also are responsible for paying all student fees associated with online student enrollment. These fees don’t typically exceed $200 per semester for part-time students who take two courses per semester.
