Young children’s developing brains are supported and grow in the context of loving relationships. Parents help children develop language and communicate through responsive interactions. They help them learn how to express and cope with a range of feelings. Parents learn to read their child’s cues and bids for closeness and, in turn children feel able to express their feelings and thoughts and how to respond to expectations set for them. Feeling safe and loved allows children to fully become themselves and thrive in school and their community.
