Is it normal for a newborn to have one eye more open than the other? Still same at 3 weeks.

Based on my research, Asymmetry in eye opening in newborns can be attributed to several factors, including normal anatomical variations, transient facial nerve palsy, or congenital conditions. However,  It is common for newborns to exhibit slight asymmetry in eye opening due to the immaturity of their facial muscles and nerves. This usually resolves as the infant grows and gains better muscle control.

It is important to bring this concern to the newborn's provider so they can evaluate the newborn's eye and refer to an ophthalmologist if needed.
