My 3.5 year old son goes to preschool. Over the past year (at school, with nannies and with us) he has grown defiant towards napping. His behavioral problems mostly arise when caregivers try to nap him. After a failed nap he is a mess and makes rash, poor decisions. We used to think that behavioral issues that he had in the afternoon were because he didn't nap, but after dropping the nap at home on the weekends, we see that while he's a little tired in the afternoon, his behavioral Issues are nowhere near as pronounced as what we see when we try to implement even a short body rest. The problem is, no school he goes to will allow for no nap (I think it's state policy). But now he is disrupting, making loud noises, rolling over to other kids, and recently he tried to bite his caretaker. How can we make required naps less painful and disruptive for everyone?
