    Update to Announcement - Human Required Reliance Process Training for PIs

    The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) has updated their Reliance Agreement documentation and requirements.  The Office of Accountability and Compliance (OAC) has set up a Blackboard site for you to receive this training.  This training takes approximately 20 minutes, including the pre- and post-tests. 

    Please see below the UMB HRPO corrected instructions for accessing the UMB PI Responsibilities – Human Required Reliance Process Training.  We want to thank the research community for their feedback.

    Who should complete this training:

    1. Individuals who have been granted PI privileges in CICERO and
    2. Have an established reliance agreement or are in the process of obtaining a reliance agreement. 

    Steps to complete this Training:

    1. Go to blackboard.umaryland.edu.
    2. Log in with your UMB credentials.
    3. Click on “Courses” from the left-hand menu.
    4. If you have many courses, in the search bar, type in “PI Responsibilities – Human”.
    5. Click on “PI Responsibilities – Human”.
    6. Once you are in the course, click on “Content” in the left-hand menu.
    7. Click on the folder titled “Reliance Agreement”.
    8. Next, click on “Intro to Reliance Agreement Pre-Test”.
    9. Answer the questions in the pre-test and submit.
    10. Scroll to the bottom and select “Click OK to review results” in the bottom right corner.
    11. Once you have submitted the pretest, you will receive access to the “Introduction to Reliance Agreement PowerPoint” training and the “Intro to Reliance Agreement Post-Test”.
    12. Review the Intro to Reliance Agreement training PowerPoint.
    13. Complete the “Intro to Reliance Agreement Post-Test” and submit.
    14. Scroll to the bottom and select “Click OK to review results” in the bottom right corner to review your answers. You must score at least 80% on the posttest.
    15. Next, click on “Reliance Agreement Pre-Test”.
    16. Answer the questions in the pre-test and submit.
    17. Scroll to the bottom and select “Click OK to review results” in the bottom right corner.
    18. Once you have submitted the pretest, you will receive access to the “Reliance Agreements: Roles & Responsibilities” training PowerPoint and the “Reliance Agreement Post-Test”.
    19. Review the Reliance Agreement: Roles & Responsibilities training PowerPoint.
    20. Complete the “Reliance Agreement Post-Test” and submit.
    21. Scroll to the bottom and select “Click OK to review results” in the bottom right corner to review your answers. You must score at least 80% on the posttest.
