Information regarding resources for access to Professional Enrichment Resources is available to all employees and focus on four areas:

  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL),
  • Computer, Internet, and Technology,
  • Reading and Writing,
  • Job-Related Training.

Some enrichment training courses may involve fees or conflict with your regular work schedule. Before enrolling, employees should consult their supervisor to ensure the training aligns with departmental guidelines and complies with applicable University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and University System of Maryland (USM) policies, including approval for any time or cost commitments.

For AFSCME-Represented Employees:

Participation in training opportunities are subject to the University System of Maryland (USM) and AFSCME Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), specifically Article 20, Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as applicable USM and UMB policies. Employees should consult with their supervisor, designated School/Unit HR Representative, or your designated HR – Employee and Labor Relations representative to ensure compliance.

For college credited courses, employees may be eligible for tuition remission.
