UMB provides 15 regular paid holidays each year (16 holidays during years of congressional or general elections). Three of these are referred to as “floaters.” Starting in calendar year 2026, employees will receive a total of 16 annual holidays (17 in general or congressional election years) which will include four "floaters". Holidays must be scheduled and used in the calendar year in which they occur and may not be carried over into the following calendar year. When a nonexempt employee is unable to take a scheduled holiday off because of operational denial by a supervisor, the employee will be compensated in accordance with UMB policies and procedures.
Holiday Schedule
A holiday may be used at any time after it is earned. While the schedule below is the standard for observing holidays and winter breaks, schools and departments that have programs or functions that require employees to be present during these times may institute alternative schedules.
