UMB Strategic Plan 2022-2026

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is embarking on the planning process for its 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, which, according to University System of Maryland policy, must be in place by July 1, 2021.

UMB’s two previous Strategic Plans — for the periods of 2011-2106 and 2017-2021 — featured unprecedented levels of Universitywide engagement, contribution, and transparency. This resulted in comprehensive documents that have guided our collective priorities over the past 10 years, and UMB expects the same level of input for its new Strategic Plan.

UMB President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, has appointed two co-chairs to lead this effort — Judy L. Postmus, PhD, ACSW, dean and professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and Roger J. Ward, EdD, JD, MSL, MPA, interim provost and executive vice president of UMB and dean of the University of Maryland Graduate School.

Additionally, Steering and Logistics committees have been formed that include representation from across UMB’s seven schools and Universitywide departments and offices. These committees will aid in seeking input and developing plan themes and goals; drafting, finalizing, and adopting the plan; and designing a process for its implementation.
