The Role of Environmental Law in Public Health
October 8 from noon-1 pm at HSRF III Room 1010
The Beta Tau Chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health hosts its annual public health lecture, "The Role of Environmental Law in Public Health" October 8 at noon.
Seema Kakade, professor at the Carey School of Law, will share her perspective on how environmental law – implementation, enforcement, and compliance is intertwined with public health. Specifically, she will highlight her efforts through the Environmental Law Clinic representing nonprofit organizations that advocate for public health and natural resource protections. She will also touch on her time within the federal government when she served as senior counsel in the Biden administration’s White House Counsel on Environmental Quality, at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and at the U.S. Department of Energy and discuss how these entities provided her with an opportunity to address public health issues on a national level.
