International Placement Gives Social Work Student Unique Global Perspective
The School of Social Work's International Placement Program immerse social work students in a cross-culture experience, gaining a unique perspective on social work practices.
One of the international placements is at the University of Greenwich in London, England. The partnership, which has existed since 2012, allows MA students from UMB to spend a term at the University of Greenwich, which posted a good-bye to the fall semester's students on LinkedIn.
Kari Litteer is one of several study abroad students who spent the fall semester in London. They will be graduating with a Masters in Social Work in summer 2026 and plans to work with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. Reflecting on their experiences, they said: “My time at the University of Greenwich will be something I treasure. I've learned so much about the culture in the UK, picked up on unique differences in social work, and have come away from this experience for a newfound appreciation of the social justice work being done in the UK.”
