UMB Represented at Japan-Maryland Night

Mio Kamijo, International Student Advisor for the Center for Global Engagement; Dr. Diane Martin, director of UMB's Geriatrics & Gerontology Education and Research program; UMB School of Graduate Studies; and Dr. Takashi Yamashita, director of the Gerontology PhD program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County attended the Japan-Maryland Night reception at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan Jan. 30.
For the past two years, the gerontology program has taken students to Japan to study aging. The program is partially supported by CGE's President's Global Impact Fund.
Maryland and Japan enjoy deep historic ties rooted in shared economic and cultural exchange. This event celebrated the robust relationship between Japan and Maryland. Attendees included Gov. Wes Moore, members of the Governor’s Cabinet, Maryland State government officials, Japanese companies operating in Maryland, Maryland companies with an interest in the Japanese market, educational institutions, and Sister State representatives.
