    CGE Awards 16 Global Scholar Program Stipends for Summer 2024

    Sixteen students from across UMB were selected for the Global Scholar Program, which provides a $2,000 stipend to help students engage in a critical analysis of complex, interdependent global systems and legacies and their implications for people's lives and the Earth's sustainability.

    The Scholars are:

    • Nikita Aggarwal, School of Social Work: Work- and immigration-related risk factors and Behavioral Health Outcomes among US Immigrant Restaurant Workers

    • Samantha Bingaman, School of Law: Comparing Legal Strategies Used by Indigenous Peoples to Respond to Environmental Injustices at the Hands of Multinational Companies

    • Gabrielle Callwood-Jackson, School of Medicine: Addressing Health Disparities in South Africa through Mobile Clinics

    • Dean Costalas, School of Law: From Shore to Shore: Comparing Legal Strategies to Confront Sea Level Rise in Kilmore Quay, Ireland, and Deal Island, Maryland

    • Kathryn Driscoll, School of Medicine: Understanding Under-5 Mortality: A Comprehensive Analysis of Sepsis-Related Deaths and Etiologic Agents in Mali Through the CHAMPS Study

    • Sundeep Grandhe, School of Pharmacy: Hope in Hospice: Addressing Immigrant Health in California's Central Valley

    • Purnima Jain, School of Pharmacy: Bringing Palliative Care to Patients with Terminal Illness in India

    • Yoon Chung Kim, School of Medicine: Long-Term Services and Supports for Older Adults in South Korea

    • Jaylyn King, The Graduate School: A Czechia collaboration to cultivate a global perspective on Bordetella solutions with the International Bordetella Society  

    • Sam McCormack, School of Law: Harnessing Passive Acoustic Monitoring to Inform Sustainable Conservation Decisions on Migratory Bird Populations
