UMB Welcomes Malawian Physician

Dr. Nginache Nampota – a research physician and vaccine advocate from Malawi – arrived in Baltimore to pursue a PhD in Epidemiology & Human Genetics. She is an integral member of the Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium (TyVAC) led by UMSOM and is passionate about improving global health in limited-resource settings. She hopes to make vaccines more accessible in her home country of Malawi and decrease infectious diseases worldwide.

Dr. Nampota is pursuing her PhD to further develop her ability to conceptualize, design, and conduct research. Upon completion of her degree, Dr. Nampota hopes to continue her research in a larger capacity with UMSOM collaborators. Ultimately, she would like to establish her own research team to address global health issues and improve health outcomes for Malawian children.
