New UMB International Operations Initiative Underway

UMB is deeply committed to and engaged in global education, research, and service. UMB operational units and personnel undertake a wide variety of international activities, much of it implemented with or through individual collaborators, collaborating or partner institutions and communities, and subrecipient organizations.

In anticipation of continuing growth in both the volume and variety of UMB’s international activities, UMB has launched the International Operations Initiative.

The goal is to create a one-stop-shop or “hub” to support UMB’s international operations, while also ensuring strong risk management. This represents UMB’s commitment to global engagement and education and addresses the top recommendations of the 2020 UMB Internationalization Report, which are to develop an interactive platform with a robust database and establish a UMB hub for global operations support.

Provost and Graduate School Dean Dr. Roger Ward appointed Dr. Bonnie Bissonette with the Center for Global Engagement to spearhead this project with expert consultant Spee Braun. We welcome your engagement in this initiative, which will require contributions from all corners of UMB.

Please reach out to engage, ask questions or seek additional information.
