Announcing School of Social Work's First International Continuing Education Course
The School of Social Work is launching its first international continuing education course, “Best Practices In Child Welfare: Learning from the U.K.," which will run from May 17-23.
Participants will travel to London to learn about best practices in U.K. child welfare, along with the history and development of U.K. child welfare services. They will earn 20 hours of Continuing Professional Education credits. Participants will hear from UK child welfare leaders and experienced practitioners about child protection, foster care, and adoption policies and systems.
With support from Social Work faculty Dr. Caroline Long Burry, participants will have opportunities to compare and contrast U.S. and U.K. policies and systems in order to bring lessons learned back to the U.S. The experience includes site visits to social care and child welfare agencies, along with visits to two sites of historical importance in the development of child welfare services: the Foundling Museum and the Dickens Museum.
Applications are due November 14. For more information, email or call 410-706-1839.
