Gregory D’Alesandro joined the Foreign Service in 2006 and currently serves as the Chargé d’affaires at U.S. Embassy Majuro. In his last assignment, Greg was the Counternarcotics Senior Advisor with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs supervising a global effort to stem the flow of synthetic drugs such as fentanyl into the United States. He also served as the Internal Politics Counselor at U.S. Embassy Beijing; Deputy Political/Economic Counselor at U.S. Embassy La Paz; Internal Politics Officer at U.S. Embassy Hanoi; Human Rights Officer at U.S Embassy Kuala Lumpur; Consular Officer at U.S. Interests Section Havana; and a Watch Officer at the State Department Operations Center.  He is conversant in Spanish, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Greg was an attorney with the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security and an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland.  He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Major.  Greg has a JD/MBA from the University of Baltimore and a BA from Franklin and Marshall College, where he competed as an NCAA Division I wrestler. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Greg attended the McDonogh School. Greg and his tandem spouse Kristine have three daughters.
