    Global Health at a Crossroads

    Join Keith Martin, MD, Executive Director of Consortium of Universities for Global Health, and Gerald Kayingo, PhD, Executive Director of PALLA and Assistant Dean at the School of Graduate Studies, to examine where global health is today and where it’s going.

    About the Speakers

    Headshot of Dr. Keith MartinKeith Martin, MD, PC is a physician who, since September 2012, has served as the founding Executive Director of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH). Between 1993-2011, Dr. Martin served as a Member of Parliament in Canada’s House of Commons. He held portfolios in foreign affairs, health, the environment, defense  and international development. He has been on many diplomatic missions in areas in crisis around the world but particularly across Africa and worked as a physician on the Mozambique border during their civil war. He has spent many years volunteering on conservation efforts in  South Africa and is a member of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada.

     

     

     

    Headshot of Dr. Gerald KayingoGerald Kayingo, PhD, MMSC, PA-C, is the Assistant Dean of Research and Executive Director of the Physician Assistant Leadership and Learning Academy (PALLA) at the School of Graduate Studies. Dr. Kayingo has extensive experience in scholarship, education, leadership, clinical practice, and global health. As assistant dean of research, Dr. Kayingo seeks to advance the research mission by nurturing scholarship and the growth of extramural research funding for physician assistant education and practice. His research interests relate to health professions education, health care delivery science, and the intersection of infectious diseases and substance use disorders/addiction. His clinical interests are in primary care settings as well as advancing rural health. Nationally. He is a recipient of several awards, including a university book prize, the 2016 American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) PA Student Academy Mentor Award, the 2015 AAPA Research Publishing Award, and the 2014 Jack Cole Society Award from Yale University.
