Educator of the Year Award
The UMB Faculty Senate puts out a call for nominations for the Educator of the Year award. This honor recognizes outstanding teaching, innovation, and dedication to student learning.
What to Consider When Nominating:
- Past national and/or local teaching awards
- If available, multidisciplinary curriculum development or contributions toward course development
- Innovative methods or approaches to teaching
- Student-initiated applications, evaluations, and student endorsements*
*To encourage student participation, schools are asked to share this opportunity with appropriate student organizations. Faculty Senate members can help promote this at the school level.
What to Submit:
- A nomination letter from the person submitting the nomination
- One additional letter of support from a colleague
- The nominee’s current CV or résumé
Final Selection Process:
The Faculty Senate Awards Committee will review all submissions and forward the top three nominees to the UMB president and provost, who will select the final award recipient. The winner will be announced before Founders Week and honored during the week’s celebratory reception
Deadline for Submissions:
All nomination packets must be submitted by Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to Celeste Gerhart at cgerhart@umaryland.edu.
