Aaron Betsinger is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work (SSW) and research faculty within the Institute for Innovation & Implementation (the Institute). He has extensive expertise and experience with program implementation, evaluation design, and data collection and analysis. His work focuses on improving the lives of youth and families involved in child-serving systems, including juvenile justice, child welfare, and behavioral health. For more than fifteen years, Dr. Betsinger has worked closely as a research partner to Maryland’s Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), and he oversees evaluation efforts related to detention, intake and case processing, policies and practices for adjudicated youth, and DJS' program/service array. In addition, he leads work supporting the implementation and evaluation of DJS-funded evidence-based programs (EBPs) and other community-based models for children and families in Maryland. Dr. Betsinger serves on the Governor's Commission on Juvenile Justice Reform and Emerging Best Practices and is the co-chair of the Commission's Youth Rehabilitation Services workgroup.
