What Is Ellucian Experience?

Experience is a modern, easy-to-use dashboard and information hub from Ellucian. This new platform will replace Self-Service Banner (SURFS) and centralize key university resources such as class registration, schedules, faculty advising and grading, financial aid, and more. Experience will tailor the content you see to your unique role at UMB (student, faculty, etc.), ensuring that what you see is meaningful and relevant to your needs.

Why the Change?

The new Experience Portal offers several key improvements over SURFS:

• Improved User Experience: A modern, mobile-friendly interface that simplifies navigation between UMB systems.
• Personalized Dashboards: Ability to customize your portal with information that is relevant to you.
• Future-Ready: Regular updates to ensure access to the latest features.
• Improved Support: Resources and updates that are more readily accessible to you.

What to Expect During the Transition

When Experience replaces SURFS, navigation “cards” will take the place of the previous links, ensuring a seamless transition from one system to the other. Users can expect all the services and features they were accustomed to in SURFS (e.g., grades, financial aid, billing, advising, and more) to be available in Experience.
