Elizabeth Parker, PhD, RD

ELIZABETH PARKER largeLiz Parker, PhD, RD is an Assistant Professor of Family & Community Medicine in the Center for Integrative Medicine, part of University of Maryland School of Medicine. 

She completed her PhD in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise (HNFE) and Bachelors of Science in HNFE with a double option in Dietetics and Exercise Health Promotion at Virginia Tech. She is also a Registered Dietitian.  Her research interests include obesity, energy balance and lifestyle interventions to improve health and chronic disease related outcomes. 

Additional Research and Projects: Dr. Parker was recently awarded an American Heart Association Career Development Award that focuses on understanding factors that influence current health behaviors of elementary and middle school teachers. She is also interested in how teachers model health behaviors in the classroom, and how this may influence students’ health. Dr. Parker teaches in the CIM Integrative Medicine Elective, through Launch Your Life Initiatives with Human Resources and is the Director of the Integrative Medicine Residency Program through Family Medicine/ Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
