Zoom AI Companion: Key Features and Activation Guide

Zoom AI Companion is an integrated artificial intelligence assistant within the Zoom platform, designed to enhance collaboration and boost productivity. It offers real-time, intelligent features that help users streamline workflows, improve meeting efficiency, and stay organized—all accessible via a diamond-shaped icon in the Zoom interface. 

Core Features

• Automatic Meeting Summaries - Generate concise summaries of discussions, decisions, and action items without manual notetaking.
• Chat Assistance - Draft messages, clarify information, and receive intelligent suggestions directly within Zoom Chat. 
• Content-Based Q&A - Ask questions about meeting content or shared materials and get accurate, context-aware answers.

Important Activation Details

• Not Enabled by Default - Zoom AI Companion is not automatically turned on for all users or all features. This ensures organizations maintain control over AI usage. 
• Not Globally Activated - The feature is not enabled at the organizational level by default. Each user must manually activate AI Companion for their account through Zoom settings.
• User Control - Any user can turn on AI Companion for their account. This approach supports privacy, security, and customization. 

How to Enable Zoom AI Companion

1. Sign in to Zoom - Log in to your Zoom account via the desktop client or web portal. 
2. Navigate to Settings
   • On the web: Go to Settings under your profile.
   • On the desktop app: Click your profile picture → Settings.
3. Locate AI Companion Settings - Scroll down to AI Companion or search for “AI Companion” in the settings search bar.
4. Enable AI Companion - Toggle the switch to On for AI Companion features you want to use (e.g., meeting summaries, chat assistance).
5. Save Changes - Confirm and save your settings. Features will now be available via the diamond icon in Zoom.
