Dr. Coats' leadership responsibilities include Project Management, Identity Management and System Integration, Web Applications and Development, IT Training and Communications, IT Support and Software Licensing, Central Administration IT Support and Services, Philanthropy IT Systems and Services, and the Student ERP System. Since joining UMB in 2004, he has introduced and led many critical IT projects, including: the UMID, the myUMB Portal, Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor Authentication, the Community System, UMB Alerts, and the UMB Service Desk.
He holds a Doctor of Science degree in Applied Information Technology, a Master of Science degree in Information Technology, an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Information Technology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering.
