About Lisa
The events of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina deeply impacted me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time, but they ultimately shaped my desire to pursue a career in public service. As an undergraduate student, I knew I wanted to make a difference, but none of the traditional paths felt quite right. I was looking for a way to blend my diverse interests and collaborate across disciplines. Interning for two jurisdictions in Maryland helped solidify my direction, and from there, everything fell into place. One of the most impactful experiences I’ve had at CHHS was working on the response and recovery efforts for the 2016 and 2018 Historic Ellicott City Floods. Applying lessons learned from the first event to the second gave me a deeper understanding of how to navigate complex local, state, and federal processes to support communities in need. That experience has been invaluable in helping clients through all phases of emergency management. CHHS has been an incredible place to grow my career, surrounded by smart, fun, and supportive colleagues who all share a passion for making the world a better place while bringing their unique strengths to the table.
