"Corticolimbic pain mechanisms"
Synopsis - “Pain is characterized by its strong emotional-affective component. The amygdala is a brain center of emotions. Evidence will be provided that abnormally increased amygdala output drives pain behaviors and is caused by an imbalance of excitatory and inhibitory processing that results from impaired cortical control. Therapeutic implications will be discussed.”
