Sophie Ogunsanmi is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Neuroscience Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science from Rowan University.
Outside of her academic work, Sophie is actively involved with Neuro Networks, where she helps elevate the voices of scientists studying neuroscience. She is also passionate about science policy and advancing equitable access to healthcare, treatment, and research opportunities.
As USGA President and chair of her USGA committee, Sophie is committed to ensuring that every student sees themselves represented in the decisions that shape their academic and professional futures. She hopes to foster a stronger sense of community and belonging across UMB by supporting student initiatives, serving on university committees, and advocating for students at the system level.
When she's not busy with research or student leadership, Sophie enjoys unwinding with reality TV, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.
