Administration and Finance
1. Please introduce yourself and describe your role at UMB.
Hello, I'm Karl Salley, a 6 yr Marine Corp veteran. I have been working on the University Campus going on 10 years, 9 of which was with Parking Transportation Services, and the last 8 months as an EVS Manager. I oversee Moving & Recycling, Pest Control, Special Event set-ups and the Clean Campus Ambassador program. My role is to ensure the safety and well-being of the grounds, keeping the entire campus free of debris, needles, encampments, and over-all cleanliness. I also ensure that all moves, and all recycling are processed correctly including office moves, blue bin disposal and carboard. In addition, I work with Pest Control to keep the campus safe from rodents, insects, and any infestations.
2. Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?
I believe my longevity on campus and being a part of both PTS and O&M gives me a large perspective on campus experience as it pertains to not just corporate side but also the line employee outlook of how things are handled at the University. My interest in the Senate is to bring a fresh face and voice on what the average person sees, says, expects, when it comes to campus concerns.
3. What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
I hope to bring clarity, understanding, outlook and perspective on decision that are made within the University.
4. Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.
My hobbies include fishing, traveling, spending time with my grandkids and furthering my education.
