1. Please introduce yourself and describe your role at UMB.
My name is Joshua Hitch and I am a Contract Specialist within Strategic Sourcing and Acquisition Services, also known as procurement. I have worked at UMB for 6 years now and am a lifelong Marylander. My only time I have lived outside of our wonderful state was during my time in the Marine Corps.
2. Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?
I am interested in serving on the Staff Senate because UMB is a wonderful place to work and is a vital part of our great state. To maintain and continue to improve our place of employment I believe it is vital to participate and actively work to craft the change and impact we want to see. I believe that Staff Senate is a great avenue for me to bring forward ideas and invest my energy into furthering the quality of life on our campus.
3. What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
During my term I want to be a voice for my constituents bringing forth their ideas and concerns. I enjoy creative problem solving and want to use my potential spot on the Staff Senate to present clever and unique ways to make our campus a better and more enjoyable workplace and educational institution.
4. Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.
Outside of work I have a wide variety of hobbies. I enjoy reading classic literature and works, I am an avid musician playing the guitar and mandolin, and I also enjoy outdoor activities such as kayaking, camping, and hiking. I believe a happy and healthy life should include both mental and physical exercise and try to put that philosophy into action everyday.
