Danielle Hill

Division Administrator
Administration and Finance
1. Please introduce yourself and describe your role at UMB.
Hello, my name is Danielle Hill. I am currently working as a Division Administrator for the Department of International Operations. I have been part of the UMB campus community since 2009, starting as an FPI (SOM- University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc.) employee then transitioning to UMB 7 years ago. In my role within Administration and Finance, I have gained valuable experience helping to manage international operations for all seven schools, focusing on international travel, projects, finance, procurement, and management. As a Division Administrator, I wear many hats to ensure our specialties are well-managed and have the needed resources. This includes procuring UMB’s international travel insurance package for the campus and holding meetings with various departments to introduce and promote our services.
2. Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?
Having been on campus for a significant time, I've experienced both the highs and lows. I am eager to use my voice to make a positive impact. There have been times when I felt unheard, and I am committed to ensuring that others do not feel the same way. Joining the staff senate would enable me to represent my colleagues' voices and concerns, ensuring their perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. I believe I can contribute uniquely to the betterment of our workplace.
3. What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
As someone who has embraced the opportunities offered by UMB, I was able to buy my first home through the Live Near Your Work program and use the tuition remission to earn my master’s degree and other certificates. I deeply value the opportunities provided by this campus and am committed to ensuring that UMB continues to offer personal and professional development opportunities. I hope to be a voice for those who feel unheard, representing the needs of UMB staff, advocating for policies and initiatives that support their professional growth and well-being, and driving meaningful changes for the campus and surrounding community.
4. Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.
Outside of work, I enjoy a balance of being outgoing and a homebody. I love playing recreational sports like softball and kickball in Baltimore city and county. Traveling and collecting passport stamps is another passion of mine, as it allows me to experience different cultures. Family and friends are very important to me, and we always make time to be together, whether it's dining out at a restaurant, having girl’s night, or gathering at someone's house to watch baseball or football games.
