    Kelsey Fitzpatrick

    Kelsey Fitzpatrick

Office Manager for the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry
    School of Dentistry

    Email: kfitzpatrick2@umaryland.edu

Please introduce yourself and describe your role at UMB.

Hello, my name is Kelsey Fitzpatrick, and I currently serve as the Office Manager for the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the School of Dentistry at UMB. In my role, I oversee daily department operations, recruitment and onboarding of new faculty and staff, procurement, facilities and events coordination, HR representative for departmental faculty and staff, provides assistance with budget management, accounts payables and receivables, and I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across different areas of the University. I take pride in being organized, dependable, and approachable, and I enjoy helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. My work has given me a strong appreciation for the important role staff play in supporting UMB’s mission and daily operations. I’m someone who values clear communication, teamwork, and follow-through, and I strive to create positive, respectful working relationships. I’m excited about the opportunity to become more involved and contribute to the broader
    UMB community.

Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?

I want to serve on Staff Senate because I care about the staff experience at UMB and I'd like to play an active role in shaping it. I would love the opportunity to work with colleagues across different areas, and I have seen how important it is for staff to feel heard, supported and connected to the broader mission of UMB. I am someone who listens attentively, communicates clearly, and follows through. I would approach this role with a genuine commitment to representing staff perspectives thoughtfully and helping to move ideas forward in a practical way. Serving on Staff Senate feels like a meaningful way to stay engaged, contribute to positive change, and support a workplace where staff can thrive.

What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

During my term, I would hope to strengthen communication between staff and leadership so that people feel informed, heard, and included in what’s happening across UMB. Sometimes I feel the biggest challenge isn’t a lack of ideas, but more of making sure information and perspectives are shared clearly in both directions. I’d also like to support efforts that enhance the overall staff experience, whether that’s through professional development opportunities, recognition, or identifying small, practical improvements that make the day-to-day work experience better. Most importantly, I want to be a reliable and approachable representative—someone colleagues feel comfortable coming to, knowing their concerns will be taken seriously and followed through on. If I can help build trust, encourage engagement, and contribute to even a few meaningful improvements, I would consider that a successful
    term.

Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially over good food or at small gatherings. I like finding ways to stay active—whether that’s taking a walk with my wife, working out at the gym, or just getting outside when the weather is nice. I also appreciate moments to unwind, like reading, listening to music, or catching up on shows. From time to time, I enjoy exploring new places, restaurants, or local events—it’s a great way to recharge and stay connected to the community. Overall, I value balance and try to make time for the things that help me stay energized and grounded.
