Oacia Fair

Senior Research Data Analyst
School of Pharmacy
1. Please introduce yourself and describe your role at UMB.
I am Oacia Fair, Senior Research Data Analyst with the PATIENTS Program in the School of Pharmacy. In my role, I address disparities in health care access and outcomes, by identifying evidence-based solutions that make a lasting impact on health care systems and delivery. I enjoy engaging with patients and communities to understand their needs, collaborating with different teams/individuals, and collecting and analyzing data.
2. Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?
Being part of the community where I live and work is very important to me. As a recent hire, I have a fresh perspective on what is working well at UMB and areas of improvement. I took advantage of several events across campus and learned firsthand the benefits UMB has to offer staff. I would love the opportunity to be part of the Senate to strengthen my connection with other staff members and increase my knowledge on campus to identify needs.
3. What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
I want to increase the awareness of resources and events the university has to offer to staff. There are great opportunities for staff that are sometimes hard to find. I would like to use my research skills to support advancement for staff by understanding staff needs through the Climate Survey. I also hope to improve our relationships with the local community by strengthening trust.
4. Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.
I love to paint and had the opportunity to showcase some of my pieces at UMB's Got Talent this year. I'm a huge fan of horror movies and science fiction novels. I enjoy solo traveling and collect shot glasses of every place I visit. I also enjoy spending time with my family in Michigan.
