Dear Colleagues:

I'm delighted to share with you that Scott Bitner, MBA, CPA, has been promoted to vice president for finance and auxiliary services and deputy chief financial officer (CFO). Scott joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) in 2012, most recently served as senior associate vice president and deputy CFO, and has more than 30 years of financial leadership experience.

Scott co-chairs the UMB Funding Model Workgroup and provides the University with wise counsel on many financial matters. He also was co-executive sponsor of the team that oversaw the two-year planning process, overhaul, and implementation of Quantum Financials, UMB’s financial and reporting system.

In his new role, his units of responsibility include Sponsored Projects Accounting and Compliance; Budget and Financial Analysis; Central Administrative Support Services; Office of the Controller; Business Applications; Change Management and Advisory Services; Strategic Sourcing and Acquisition Services; Parking and Transportation Services; and the Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center.

Scott will continue to report to Dawn M. Rhodes, DBA, MBA, chief business and finance officer and senior vice president. I know you join me in congratulating him on this recognition of his work.
