The ombudsperson will:
- Listen
- Offer information about University and departmental policies and procedures
- Help people examine options for resolving concerns
- Help facilitate access to other resources
- Provide mediation or shuttle diplomacy when requested and appropriate
- Respect privacy

The ombudsperson will not:
- Serve as an advocate for any person or group
- Testify or participate in formal procedures
- File formal complaints or investigate concerns
- Guide visitors in a particular direction
- Give legal advice
- Take formal complaints
- Serve as an agent of notice for the University
- Establish, change, or waive policies
- Offer psychological counseling
- Keep written records after a consultation is completed
Important note: The ombudsperson is not authorized to accept notice of claims against the University.

Ombudsperson
Brian O. Godette, JD, has more than 27 years of experience in government and private practice law. He received his juris doctorate degree from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, Vt. He also is a member of the International Ombudsman Association.

Bruce K. Krueger, PhD
Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology (and of Psychiatry)
Research Ombuds
Bruce K. Krueger, has been a faculty member since 1979 and has been active in graduate and medical education as course master and program director and has mentored 15 pre- and postdoctoral trainees. His research has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense, and AstraZeneca. Krueger has been awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship, an NIH Fogarty Senior International Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
