The Lean into Learning! Supervisors Series is a dynamic professional development program designed to build leadership skills, boost team performance, and foster a positive workplace culture. 

Through interactive sessions, you’ll gain practical tools, connect with peers, and grow your confidence in managing people and processes more effectively. Don’t miss this opportunity to invest in your growth and make a greater impact at UMB!

These sessions will be held in person and virtually throughout the year. Supervisors are invited to attend any sessions of interest. 

  • Interpersonal Communication for Supervisors

    Explore the behaviors of an effective manager. Learn key skills and interpersonal communication that can enhance overall effectiveness as a manager.

  • Effective Delegation for Supervisors

    Explore the role of effective delegation as a fundamental skill for success as a leader. The session will include discussions on when and how to delegate effectively.

  • Performance Feedback for Supervisors

    Participants will learn best practices for giving positive and corrective feedback. Discussions on how to manage an employee’s negative reactions or anxious behavior will be included.

  • Productive Conflict for Supervisors

    Participants will discuss the positive and negative aspects of conflict, share how different people respond to conflict, and gain tools and techniques for resolving conflict.

  • Cultural Proficiency for Supervisors

    Participants will identify dimensions of diversity, reflect on their own values, and analyze an intercultural encounter in the workplace using a case study.

  • Successful Teams for Supervisors

    Participants will identify the benefits of teamwork and discuss the team development process and ways that the manager can help.
