The Employee Learning and Development (ELD) team partners with UMB leaders to develop and implement learning solutions to improve the effectiveness of individuals, teams, and the University. We are committed to providing service excellence. The unit offers expertise in consultation, training and development, and facilitation.

How We Support You

To engage the talent community, ELD offers the following programs and services: 

• Professional Development – offering learning opportunities through signature programs such as SPARK!, Emerging Leaders, Career Essentials, and Lean into Learning.
• Percipio – engaging through UMB’s eLearning platform to assist employees with enhancing capabilities, competencies, and performance.  
• Career Development Services – providing support to staff in personalized career counseling, skills assessments, and career planning.
• Employee Recognition – fostering a positive work culture by appreciating employees through service awards and scholarships. 
• Onboarding - Overseeing the onboarding process and first-day experience for new employees
• Organizational Development Consultation - Providing organizational development consulting and tailored learning sessions for supervisors.

Our Expertise

Consultation

We conduct assessments of environmental and employee needs and recommend customized solutions such as action planning, team and professional development interventions, and process evaluation.

Training and Development

We curate learning experiences to help employees acquire knowledge and skills. These activities include professional development, leadership development, supervisory training, and eLearning.

Facilitation

We guide participants in the generation and analysis of ideas, proposed solutions and actions through effective facilitation of meetings, retreats, and team interventions.
