From health clinics and legal aid to educational programs and social services, UMB collaborates with local organizations, residents, and partners to create sustainable, positive change. By fostering strong connections with its community, UMB not only enhances the well-being of individuals and families but also strengthens the social fabric of Baltimore and the region. Through these efforts, UMB reaffirms its commitment to serving as a catalyst for growth, equity, and opportunity for all.

The University of Maryland Baltimore's (UMB) Community Engagement Center (CEC) is where UMB works hand-in-hand with neighbors to support them in achieving their career goals and giving children a safe place to learn and play. And it is equipped to partner with our community to reach our common goals of health, security, and well-being.

The CEC, is architecturally stunning, employing some of the original architectural elements of the historic 20,000-square-foot building at 16 S. Poppleton St.

To provide a safe and welcoming space that offers neighbor-identified quality opportunities to strengthen social connectedness, experiential/bidirectional learning, health consciousness, and improve historical mistrust.

Centered in human dignity, the Community Engagement Center and neighbors co-create opportunities of the highest quality so that everyone has the resources to live life to the fullest.
